Electrical safety measures are important for keeping you and your family safe. However, many homeowners don’t realize that some of the things they do around their home can actually create a safety hazard.
We here at Mister Sparky by Wise Electric Control Inc. want you to stay safe from electrical hazards, which is why we suggest you follow these three electrical safety tips.
- Don’t overload your electrical socket. Too many plugs in one electrical socket can be a major hazard. Power strips and extension cords don’t provide more power – rather, they only provide you with more outlets, and having too many appliances plugged into a single socket can overload the system.
- Keep cords untangled. Tangled cords can be a big electrical safety hazard, as rubbing on the insulation and other wear and tear can damage the cords and create a fire hazard. You can help make tangled and unruly cords less of an issue by unplugging any appliances that aren’t in use and making sure that all cords are neat and out of other cords’ way.
- Don’t mix cords with water. Water and electricity can be a deadly combination, which is why you should never mix appliances with water. When using appliances like hair dryers and straighteners, always keep them away from a sink or other water source to avoid this hazard.
You should always keep electrical safety in mind when using any appliance or electrical source. If you’re concerned about electrical safety in your home or want to make sure that all of your home electrical needs are met, be sure to reach out to us today.
